چکیده
Purpose: To describe the clinical characteristics and surgical outcomes of patients with myopic tractional maculopathy (MTM) who underwent macular buckling (MB) surgery using a novel L-shaped buckle. Methods: A titanium stent, style 507 sponge, silicone sleeve were used to create an buckle. The stent was bent through 90° over last third. sponge cut about 1 cm in length placed on extremity. remaining part then covered 2-cm-long sleeve; total buckle 3 cm. implanted supero-temporally allow access region. Intraoperative optical coherence tomography (Zeiss Rescan 700, Carl Zeiss, Jena, Germany) performed ensure that appropriately positioned. Results: Three MTM MB under general anesthesia. In all patients, foveae lay at greatest distances possible from posterior staphyloma. Given location staphyloma scleral expansion, anteroposterior traction evident every patient. After surgery, although extent varied, exhibited reduced traction, evidenced by decreased retinoschisis, flattening, smaller holes. one case, vitrectomy added release epiretinal membrane-induced tangential traction. No patient reported any significant ocular complication after surgery. Conclusions: buckle, safely efficiently relieves improves anatomy MTM.

متن کاملMyopic maculopathy: a review.
Pathological myopia is a major cause of irreversible vision loss and is the fourth to ninth most frequent cause of blindness in the world. Choroidal neovascularization (CNV) secondary to pathological myopia is the leading cause of vision impairment in patients younger than 50 years. New scientific contributions have been made to the understanding of high myopia and associated CNV. New treatment...
متن کاملA Novel Episcleral Macular Buckling: Wire-Strengthened Sponge Exoplant for Recurrent Macular Hole and Retinal Detachment in High Myopic Eyes
The purpose would be to describe and evaluate a novel technique of episcleral macular buckling in postvitrectomy recurrent macular hole retinal detachment in highly myopic eyes. A 7mm silicone sponge strengthened with a U-shaped 0.5mm orthodontics stainless steel wire fed along its length and hand-bent to produce L-shaped buckle of appropriate shape and length, is used. The episcleral macular b...
متن کاملVitrectomy for myopic traction maculopathy.
OBJECTIVE To describe the results of vitrectomy in highly myopic eyes affected by a form of posterior vitreous traction termed myopic traction maculopathy (MTM). METHODS In this retrospective case series, 24 highly myopic eyes with MTM underwent vitrectomy and release of vitreoretinal traction without final fluid/gas exchange. Nine eyes (37.5%) received a combined phacovitrectomy. Mean patien...

PURPOSE To report the anatomic and visual results following macular buckling for patients with macular retinoschisis related to high myopia. METHODS Thirty-nine highly myopic eyes (mean refractive error -16.7 D; range, -9 to -24 D) of 36 patients (mean age 59 years; range, 35-79 years) presenting with macular retinoschisis associated with a posterior staphyloma, who underwent combined vitrect...
